The complex build-out of this innovative office and laboratory space for biopharmacuetical company ARCA Biopharma (formerly Nuvelo) combines both flexibility and smart design linking research space with project support areas for its staff of 250 employees. The project included cGMP labs, fermentation labs, R&D labs, a vivarium as well as administrative areas.
Starting from cold shell condition, BCCI Constructon was brought on during preconstruction to assist with planning and provide budgetary pricing. As part of our good neighbor policy, noisy activities were scheduled off-hours to mitigate disruption in an adjacent facility. Negative air machines were brought in prior to the installation of lab equipment. Special commissioning procedures were followed to meet the manufacturers’ requirements such as isolation of lab areas from general construction in other parts of the building. Only personnel involved in commissioning were allowed in these areas to maintain a clean environment.
Upfront planning with the entire project team resulted in the delivery of an advanced R&D workplace that comprises all of the elements and functionality that the client envisioned for their new office.
