BCCI Construction provided integrated design and construction services for the Bay Club Financial District modernization project, which comprised a refresh of the reception area, locker rooms, sauna, and steam rooms. The facility had not been renovated in more than 25 years, and the goal for the renovation was to attract a younger clientele while also appealing to the club’s established members.
BCCI’s architecture and construction teams worked together on the design, material selection, constructability, and scheduling. During site investigation, substantial water damage was uncovered in the sauna and steam rooms. To eliminate as many grout joints as possible, the shower rooms, sauna, and steam rooms feature large-scale Italian porcelain tile panels. To save costs and update the space, maple wood veneer wall panels were painted a fresh gloss. The new improvements were completed while the club remained fully operational. With a detailed phasing and logistics plan, construction was completed in sections, and temporary entrances for the men’s and women’s locker rooms were created so that they would remain usable at all times.
The Bay Club was so pleased with the renovation and the new zen vibe; it has made BCCI’s finish selections the new design standard for all locations.
