BCCI Construction was chosen to lead the build-out of Jagalchi, Mega Mart’s flagship grocery offering, transforming a former mall anchor space into a vibrant culinary and cultural destination. This groundbreaking project showcases the power of collaboration, innovation, and precise execution, all driven by a dedicated and highly skilled project team.

The primary objective was to deliver a high-quality, fully-operational space within a compressed timeline – an effort that involved overcoming several complex challenges:

  • Client-held subcontracts: Mega Mart directly managed its own equipment vendors, requiring seamless coordination across multiple teams and disciplines.
  • Building conditioning issues: The installation of a specialized dehumidification and heating system was critical to maintaining proper environmental conditions within the space.
  • Power delays: Significant delays from PG&E in providing additional power to the building necessitated adaptive planning and schedule adjustments.

These challenges were met with proactive communication, flexible strategies, and strong collaboration between BCCI, Mega Mart, and all consultants and vendors involved.

Jagalchi has quickly emerged as a regional destination, drawing food enthusiasts and shoppers from across the Bay Area. As a thoughtfully designed and constructed space, it sets a new standard for cultural retail and experiential dining.

Project Highlights:

  • Full-scale commercial kitchens
  • Retail and grocery shopping areas
  • Cafés and dining zones
  • A signature restaurant led by Michelin-starred Chef Tony Yoo
  • Warehouse and back-of-house facilities
  • Private offices, conference, and training rooms
  • Staff amenities, including break and locker rooms
