When Herman Miller chose the One Kearny building for its new showroom location, they hired BCCI for preconstruction and sustainable construction services for the renovation of the space. BCCI used its Real Time Estimator (RTE) program during preconstruction to effectively communicate the budget and keep within cost parameters during the build out and final delivery of the project. As a structure that combines three historic buildings, One Kearny has idiosyncrasies that proved to be challenging during construction – including its distinctive triangular-shaped floor-plates. However, BCCI was able to execute the team’s design goals for an elegant, clean, white space with hidden wires, a custom reception desk constructed by BCCI’s team, and a frameless glass conference room door that conceals behind wall pockets. Sustainable highlights include a reclaimed wood floor and a smart energy management system to control showroom, conference room, and workstation area lighting. The showroom received LEED CI Gold certification by the USGBC.
